Hi, I’m Gerry The Ferryman.
Welcome aboard!
This blog will reflect the many-coloured aspects of my journey.
You’ll find stuff about growing up in the UK surrounded by the music and culture of English, my mother tongue. There will also be posts about more than four decades of living and teaching English in France, the land of French, my other tongue. Here I also tumbled into tango as a dancer, DJ and organizer, as you will discover.
Oral expression and storytelling have also been essential to holding on to the thread of constantly moving between two languages and the different voices which go with each.
It’s funny how one thing has led to another along the way, creating a sort of learning narrative. I’ll be sharing some of my own experiences, while also exploring a project called Learner Tales where I will meet and talk to learners from all walks of life as they tell their own learner tales.
There are texts in English and others in French so sit tight. I hope you enjoy the ride!
