The Weatherman’s Tale
I'm a weatherman. I work for the television. Last night something strange happened. I gave my weather forecast as usual : Plenty of sunshine today, I said, but snow tomorrow. I gave all the details, the temperatures, expected snowfall, possible disruptions and so on. That was all. Forecast done, I was already thinking about going home. But then people started coming into the studio. They didn’t normally do that. Some applauded. Others laughed. But others were very unhappy. Snow in August Bill? That's impossible, they said. Well, I answered, that's the forecast. We'll just have to see, won't we?

Eye-awful wildfire in France
I was at the beach in Leucate for a family afternoon when at around 4pm the sky began to change colour. Darker and darker, first taking the heat off the sun but in the space of less than an hour then stealing the light. It reminded me of a solar eclipse. People were still at the beach but the sky was no longer blue.
